Martyn O'Connor receives the Worcester Bosch 2010 Environment award for best installation from Dr David Bellamy at the Gala Luncheon.

It was our work at Cenarth Falls Holiday Park that caught the eye of the judges. The installation was at 'Coracles health and country club' - a new development at the park.

2010Logo The Environment 2010 Awards are held annually by leading boiler manufacturer Worcester Bosch to recognise areas of excellence in environmental issues. They were named after the Government's commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% by the year 2010.

They are dedicated to rewarding those that are using and installing the most energy efficient boilers and systems, as space heating and hot water equates to 80% of the energy used within the typical home.

SYSTEM SPECIFICATION

Boiler header

3 boilers
  • BOILERS - 3 No WORCESTER BOSCH GREENSTAR HL27 CONDENSING LPG SYSTEM BOILERS
  • Boilers linked to steel header made locally from 100 x 100 x 5mm box section 1200mm long mounted vertically alongside boilers. Connections by means of threaded sockets for boilers and outlets to heating and pool heat exchangers.
  • The use of system boilers utilised their inbuilt expansion vessels and pumps thus considerably simplifying the system components.
  • The heat loads were approx 66% for the pool and spa bath and 33% for heating.
  • Anticipated summer load is about 25% of maximum.
  • Using 3 boilers ensures excellent part load efficiencies.
Function Room Pipework
  • HEATING SYSTEM - Underfloor Heating to all areas except pool using plastic/aluminum composite tube.
  • Total heated floor area = 402.5sqM
  • 2020M heating pipe stapled direct to 50mm Cellotex insulation slabs.
  • 3 manifold locations, 23 individual circuits.
  • Design flow temp of 45degC at -1 outside is ideal for condensing boilers
  • CONTROL SYSTEM - Microprocessor based control provides compensated mixed supply water temperature to heating circuits based on external and internal temperatures.
  • Boiler stage controller switches boilers on or off to meet flow temp requirement based on external and internal temperatures.
  • Optimised start/stop
  • Warm weather shut down
  • Remote display / control unit
  • Local room 'stats in areas of high occupancy prevent overheating.
  • Automatic lead boiler rotation to equalise wear.
  • Pump and valve excercise
  • Greenstar boilers modulating burners allow large turndown ratio ensuring excellent part load efficiency.
